All of our classes, camps, and workshops offer a number of need-based scholarships you can apply for when registering.
Once our classes have reached the maximum number of students, we will offer a waitlist on a first-come basis for any last minute openings.

What is Sing Your Story?
Using a song of their choice, students will explore their unique life experience to create a connecting monologue and Sing their Story. Students will devise their own ideas, lighting, and costumes leading to a personalized performance where they are the STAR! SING YOUR STORY will culminate in a showcase on the 710 Main stage open to the community.
Led by our lead Teaching Artist, Alejandro Gómez. Other staff includes Alex Garcia, Victoria Pérez-Maggiolo, and Kathleen Dunne.
The program will culminate with a song showcase on February 23 at Shea’s 710 Theatre for an invited audience of family and friends. Ages 10-17. Financial assistance available.

What is SSMTI?
The Shea’s Summer Musical Theatre Intensive, or SSMTI, is a two-week day camp for students ages 10-17. At SSMTI our students take classes in dance, acting, writing, and vocal music all while preparing for the final showcase of their own original musical. During our two weeks together, the students work together in groups of about 10-15, supervised by a director and stage manager to write, rehearse, and design a 10-minute musical which includes an original song. At the end of camp all the students come together for a huge showcase of all their musicals. In 2023, SSMTI had 80 students attending camp everyday and each year we continue to grow.

Day-to-day
The day at SSMTI starts at 9:00 with a warmup on the main stage or in our grand lobby. Students then split off into their groups, pre-assigned by age group, to begin their day of classes.

Students take a lunch break in the middle of the day and head out for parent pick up at 4:00.
The Staff
Our team of expert staff is one of our greatest prides at SSMTI. Our camp is led by Victoria Pérez-Maggiolo, our VP of Education and Engagement. Victoria supports and supervises a staff of teaching artists who are experts in their field. Students are taught by a professional choreographer and music director, guest teaching artist who specialize in different theatre craft skills, and their group’s leaders. Each group is lead by a director and a stage manager who guide them through their day and help them to produce their original musicals.
The Final Performance
The final performance takes place in the evening on the last day of camp. Students stay at camp all day through the evening that day preparing to perform their original musicals for an audience of their friends and families.

Showcase at Shea’s Smith Theatre

Ages 13-17 (rising 9th grade-12th grade).
Overview
Gain an edge on your acting expertise with our two weeklong summer intensive. Students will be exposed to a vast body of techniques including Linklater, Viewpoints, Michael Chekhov, Meisner and Uta Hagen. The intensive is designed with emphasis on theatre values such as intellectual curiosity, artistic integrity, and equity inclusion to encourage a broad range of theatrical approaches.
What is Actor’s Edge?
Actor’s Edge is a two-week day camp for rising high school freshman through seniors. At Actor’s Edge our students take classes in a wide variety of acting techniques taught by professional actors and directors. While preparing for the final showcase of scenes and monologues. Students in this camp will be able to grow the skills they need to pursue acting in college and as a career. This camp has an enrollment maximum is 25 students to ensure that each of our young actors receives the personalized attention that they deserve.

The students of Actor’s Edges’ day begins at 9:00 with warmups and ensemble building work. After that, they will split off into their two “casts” each lead by a teaching artist to take their classes and rehearse their scenes and monologues for the final showcase. Throughout the two-week process students will also be working on writing their own artist’s statement, participating in a panel discussion with local actors and directors, and receiving headshots that can be used for audition purposes. Students take a lunch break in the middle of the day and head out for parent pick up at 4:00.

He selects the experts that will be teaching the students their acting classes and guides the teaching artists that are leading each of the “casts” in preparation for their final showcase.

The final performance takes place in the evening on the last day of camp. Students stay at camp all day through the evening that day, preparing to perform their scenes and monologues for their friends, families, and community professionals.

Join the Shea’s comedy writer’s room as we take a deep dive into screenwriting, improvisation, and sitcom structure to create pilot episodes before a live studio audience. Actors and writers will create a full studio audience experience complete with theme songs, and commercials all packed with punch lines on CUE!
What is Comedy on Cue?
Comedy on Cue is a one-week day camp for students ages 9-12. At comedy on cue students lean the basic skills of comedic acting and writing all while writing and rehearsing their own original comedy sketches in the style of Saturday Night Live. This camp has an enrollment maximum is 25 students to ensure that each of our young comedians receives the personalized attention that they deserve.
